Parking
Parking at The Spot can be difficult to find during certain hours. It is especially hard on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. During the daytime, it is not as difficult. Street parking is available and it is free also. There are disabled parking available directly in front of the Ritz cinema. Also, most people are unaware of the fact that after hours parking at the Prince of Wales hospital (located on the corner of Barker and Avoca St) is available. The hospital is located within walking distance to the Spot and will offer free, unlimited parking. To enter the parking station at the hospital, enter from the Barker Street side. However, during normal office hours, you will have to park on the street. A popular place to park is on St Pauls Street. If you are coming from Perouse Rd, you will be unable to turn into the section of this street, which is between Avoca, and Perouse Rd for it is a one way street. However, you can drive on the other side of Perouse and find parking around the area. A Hint: Just be aware of the time limit on the signs and the days that they are applicable to. They are quite strict on the parking rules. Most street parking will be at residential areas so we must respect the residents. Recently, the Supreme Court ordered the Randwick City council to remove all 2 hour parking signs erected in St Pauls St, Daintrey Crescent, Hardiman Avenue, Lee Street, Perouse Road, Sounder St, Stewart St and Cuthill St, by the 4th April 2001. Holders of current Resident Parking Permits for the affected Streets will receive a refund of the application fee. The Randwick City Council proposes to appoint a firm of traffic and parking consultants to investigate and to make recommendation regarding the parking issues in the vicinity of the Spot. We will keep you up to date on the matter. We welcome queries concerning this matter on our feedback page. |
